Nevermind.. (Was: More Serial Port stuff..)

I found the problem -- the internal cable that goes between the
motherboard and the case (goes from square 10-pin connecter to a DB-9 or
DB-25) was bad.  Replaced that, and everything works great (now I just
have to try making it go _faster_! ;-)
