haha.. yes.. some kind of toucher is required when admins goof up root
passwords.
you shouldn't need to touch /etc/shadow because libc looks for the x in
/etc/passwd first.. if it doesn't see that, it trys to use non-shadow
authentication.. otherwise it goes to /etc/shadow.. last time i had do do
this kind of thing.. maybe it's different with pam.
