Re: [TCLUG:9393] Sound Woes

Linux support for PCI sound cards is in its early stages, so the OSS
sound drivers may be the most viable alternative.

Not sure if this is of help, but, I had similar woes on my laptop
computer, which uses a Crystal CS4236 sound chip in some odd custom
design. Getting sound to work on this machine was a royal pain, even
with the OSS driver. However, after discovering how to set the
computer's CMOS configuration for Sound Blaster emulation, I've had good
luck with the plain old Sound Blaster driver. RH6 with
gnome/enlightenment acted weird on this machine until updated gnome
packages were installed.
