Preamble: I am one grumpy person, and have been for a week. Grumpiness
colors my comments. Sorry.

	Sorry Kelly, I wasn't trying to be mean, but your comments start out
like an advertisement for the "all new coppermine" pentium IIIe chip and
Intel, and it gets on my nerves a bit. I don't like Intel, not because
the make good and fast PC processors (in fact, I find that a really good
reason to like Intel), but because they prefer to charge outrageous fees
for those processors. Certainly they have to recoup what they spend
making the chip and R&D, and a healthy profit, but they go too far. They
grow be leaps and bounds, consolidate large amounts of power, and ease
in and try to take over the business of creating all or most PC related
hardware (and who pays for all this? me, when I overpay for a chip).
They make chipsets, graphics chips, patent and refuse to license
sockets, and are pushing hard to close the "open" PC spec. This is not
good news for me, or for anyone who doesn't care to overpay for their
hardware. I feel very fortunate to be able to buy an "OK" fast chip for
$100 or less, something I couldn't do with Intel as a sole supplier
(I've heard it said that the celeron would not exist if not for
competitors like AMD, and I agree). So I support their competition,
whomever they might be, even if they don't have the fastest chip, if
they can meet my needs. If I don't, I may be paying "through the nose"
for hardware again in the near future, and will be myself partially to
blame for it. 
	From what I've just said, it may occur to you that I really don't care
who is on top right now, and I don't. I also won't take the time to go
over, point by point, what you have to say about Coppermine or the
Athlon. This is because I don't regard you as an authority on these
things (though you may be, and I just am not aware of it). And this is
why I ask for support (external to you) for your 1036 words, and
refuting the opinion of Tom Pabst doesn't count. I do believe you have
knowledge of this subject, I'm just not sure you're right. If you can
find that support, from guys who write things like "when _I_ tested the
Coppermine chip and compared it to the Athlon _I_ tested last week", you
may affect my opinion (and those of others). Until then, I am
unconvinced. It just sounds to me like you are waving Intel's flag, but
that may be because I am biased against them and I realize that.
	So, I've seen the end product (your opinion), but I want a closer look
at the ingredients.
