this is what worries me about computers... that most people treat
them like magic, don't understand how they work, and want to have usage
(rather than possibilities) dictated to them.
some people worry about computers taking over... I think the way
that's most likely to happen, is when people continue to expect the computer
to do the thinking for them, and don't learn how things actually work.
I belive we will soon have AIs that are far smarter than a person in
many ways. (remember that human intelligence is primarily designed to
process environmental data very quickly, and respond to it... higher levels
of thinking are comparatively very poor.) whether we control them, or they
control us, will come down to how we understand and deal with computers.
IMHO, what distinguishes a geek from a marketing person; is that a geek will
give you lots of cool tools, and expect you to figure out what to *do* with
them. a marketing person will tell you what something is good for, and then
hope you believe them and go along with them like a good little sheep.
