if your using the 'magic' ip 0.0.0.0 to configure iptables/ipchains, this
is expected behavior i believe. It ends up matching 0.0.0.0 to the
current IP and keeps that instead i think. I generally use my own subnet
mask so if im in promisc im even ignoring unwanted traffic.
Cant you just add the command to flush/readd the rules to ifup/ifdown?
