I recently was in a similar situation, but was just trying to decide
whether to get a voodoo2 or 3.  I spent 146 dollars on a voodoo3 3000 agp
and am *extremely* happy with my computer's newfound quakeability (44 fps
on pII 400 @ 800x600).  Also, I put a step-by-step quake3 + redaht 6.x +
voodoo3 howto (adapted from Linux-Magazine, March 2000, Jason Perlow) up at
