My Slackware 7 box regularly took almost 20 seconds to obtain it's IP addr
from the local Novell DHCP server, until one day when it failed the
process entirely.  From that day forward, dhcpcd never worked once again
_ever_..

I didn't have the time (or knowledge) to tshoot the problem, so I reverted
to a fixed IP addr and left it.
