There is a 2GB limit for individual files, though there are some tweaks
out there to bring it up to 4GB, IIRC.  You might also manage to bring
that up by increasing block sizes (I think ext2 can handle 1k, 2k, and
4k), though I've never heard of anyone doing that.

But you're right, ext2 is in need of replacement (I really hate waiting
for my 6GB drive to fsck..  I'm glad I don't deal with any larger
drives!)
