If memory serves, the first versions of ssh1 were actually GPL. Then the
company changed the licensing agreement. The OpenBSD people took this old
code, and reimplemented and updated it under the BSD license to get rid of
the "viral" GPL'd code (much the way Linus used the Minix kernel as a
framework for the Linux kernel, replacing code as he progressed), and
released it under the BSD license when they were done.
