REDHAT5.1 BUGS (but its looking good overall) (fwd)

From the Redhat List. Looks like even 5.1 isn't as bugfree as 4.2.

Hi,

Installed RH5.1, thought I'd best make sure you all know about a couple of
irritating bugs so they don't bite you.

RH5.1 is looking good overall though.

1) INSTALLER CANNOT RESOLVE DNS ALIASES in "select ftp server" box.
Possibly true for NFS too. ie. "ferret.lmh.ox.ac.uk" works
"ftp.lmh.ox.ac.uk" is an alias for the same IP and fails. "163.1.138.204"
OK too.

2) INSTALLER HANGS IN REPRODUCABLE PLACES FOR ~5MINS.

The installer seems to hang every time it has to execute
"/usr/sbin/groupadd" and "/usr/sbin/useradd". The hang recovers but can
take ~6mins. The hang occurs worst at "linuxconf" RPM. One person already
reported an aborted install due to impatience at this stage. "postgresql"
and "dev" packages also affect.
On a related note, "sendmail" hangs for a bit at install trying to
execute "newaliases". Also recovers.

3) "mini-comanche.xpm" missing/misconfigured. Causes ugly fvwm2 menu with
text artifact.

4) /etc/X11/wmconfig entry for "cxhextris" broken HOPELESSLY!! Actual
binary is called "xhextris" not "cxhextris". Causes starting from menu to
silently fail.

5) "xxgdb" appears in the Utilities/Mail menu(?!). No comment ;-)

Cheers
Chris
