Re: [TCLUG:2203] Unresolved Symbols After Compiling Kernel

But he's just running 'depmod -a'!! He's running the program that
detects the modules, not the program that loads them!

Heh.. I've got the same problem he does.. It tends to hit random
modules when I compile..

Right now, with 2.1.128, the modules that fail (for me) are:

# /sbin/depmod -a
/lib/modules/2.1.128/fs/devpts.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.1.128/net/ethertap.o: unresolved symbol(s)
/lib/modules/2.1.128/ipv6/ipv6.o: unresolved symbol(s)

The only solution I've found is to compile those features into the
kernel. (There's probably a solution _far_ better than that, but I'm no
kernel hacker..)

I'd probably have more problems, but there are a few things that I
compile in (like sb.o for my SB16, ide-floppy.o for my Zip drive,
ide-cdrom.o for my CDROM drive, and probably others), rather than
dealing with the potential problems of unresolved symbols..
