SVGAlib

I'm having trouble configuring SVGAlib for my hardware. I have:

Sony 100ES 15" monitor (1024x768x32@72 max)
Matrox Mystique 220 display adaptor

In the /etc/vga/libvga.config, I've forced it to use the plain vanilla VGA
values, because the chipset of my Mystique 220 isn't listed as one of the
supported options. However, when I try to start the SVGAlib prgram I want,
I get errors like this:

Monitor setting from environment denied.
chipset override from environment denied.
Color/mono selection from env. denied

(I have an environment variable, $SVGALIB_CONFIG_FILE, pointing to this
file, whihc I think explains the references to the "environment" in the
error messages.)

Does anyone know about this stuff? Tia. :)
