UMAX Astra 610S scanner

  Hi,

Seems I'm going to be buying a scanner pretty soon, and the (very little)
research I did sughgests that the best one for Linux would be the UMAX
Astra 610S (It's pretty cheap, it's in SANE and it's SCSI).

It comes with a SCSI card, but the knowledgable staff at CompUSA couldn't
tell me what chipset it is or (believe it or not!) whether it'd work under
Linux.

I was wondering if anyone knew if it does work. I'm also open to
suggestions on alternative scanners (:.

Also, if it doesn't work (or just in case), I'll get a different SCSI
card, but the only SCSI card I have experience with under Linux is the
adaptec aha 2940, which costs more than the scanner does, so if anyone can
suggest a decent Linux-supported NON-killer SCSI card, that'd be nice
too (:

TIA,

-Yaron
