Nowadays, upgrading XFree86 is easy. Just download the rpms (or deps) and
upgrade away.
Of course, if you have to wait for the download, it bites, but I just
setup a mirror script to run at 2am to download all of the updates for
RedHat 5.2 and wait a few days for it to catch up, then upgrade away...
