Since that's the system they were compiled on, I'm betting
that this is the udp/metaserver known bug.  If you are starting
cow with '-m', please try '-M' instead.

It would be a GoodIdea(tm) to mention this bug on the cow home page.

If this is not what is going on, please provide more information:

  processor, x server, resolution, netrekrc, command line, etc
