  Interesting disussion Dave -- as always. Here's my take
for what it is worth (probably not much ;-) 

  - I'm not really that interested in having netrek be GPL'd.

  - My stance is similar to Sheldon's in that I feel that GPL is more
    restrictive than our current license. 

  - I don't believe licensing is restricting us from being released
    as part of any Linux/BSD distribution. To this end I don't think
    our licensing is preventing people from playing netrek.

  - I think that an alternative to RSA would be a interesting project.

  - I feel ignorant, what's GLGPL? General License?  

  On another front, here at Sun, we used to have two netrek servers and
a wait queue on both durring their hours of operation. However, in last
year usage has droped off considerably and at this point it's just a
trickle (I only run one server and it rarely gets t-mode).

  Most of the players play things like doom and quake (which IMO lack
the strategy and style of netrek). When I've talked to them about this
they've indicated that they were totaly willing to play but, only if
there were other players who were there to meet their challenge.

  I think that one of the best things that we can do for netrek is to
*play*.
