They're pretty cool. Kinda on the pricy side though. If you're going for reliability and performance I'd say it's pretty tough to beat. As far as (more) economical solutions go a linux box with external RAID would proably be the next best thing. Or if not external at least with removable drive bays. I've seen/used machines with internal (screwed down) harddrives which I think defeats the purpose of RAID. I haven't used IDE RAID before but it might be worth checking out too.
