(oops ... I posted this back to Sam .. but not the group .. so here it is) Money is the issue ... they are great boxes, but you pay a lot of money for the product. Buying good solid hardware will cost me $2800 ( > 4 GB RAM, > 640 GB SATA IDE drives, etc.) ... software install after that takes time ... I have more time than money. The money comes out of my pocket - self-employed ... not a large corporations computer budget. "Bang for the buck" I can build a lot better machine than I can buy ... that is of course assuming I can find a motherboard with the right drivers for Linux ... hence ... why I am doing a bit of research first.
