PHS is a cordless telephone you can take out of your home and use much
like a cellular, but with an extremely smaller power emission.  Now
antennas are on every populated areas.  The support is because the
carriers are adding digital data transmittion (as opposed to modulated
analog) to the service, requiring a RAS box to handle completely
different than existing framings.
