Re: (ASCEND) MAX 4048

The 4004 bogs down in a big way with 50+ analog calls. Performance
goes down the drain. The 4048 holds a max of 3- 16port modem cards. If you
are gonna do ISDN and analog, then you are gonna have a $300/modem that
you aren't using. With a 4004, you can put up to 6-16port modem cards, so
if you buy a 4004 with 3-16port modem cards, you can do ISDN and Analog
without wasting any modems (until you get to your 49th isdn call). It
might be warped logic, but none-the-less it's mine :)

I can't argue with that. I've found the same to be true with the
MAX

Hmm. I know several people running fully loaded 4004's with little
performance problems on the ISDN side.

The PM3's are just to new IMHO. You know what you are getting into
with ascend, good products, good technical support, moderate price, proven
track record. There are some performance problems with lots of analog
calls. If you look at the white papers comparing the PM3 to the MAX,
it outperforms it in aggregate throughput.
