16 modem 'components' will produce more heat than 12, but when comparing
a MAX with 48 modems, then there will be 3 * 16 or 4 * 12 - same number
of 'heat producing modem components', BUT only 3 cards used in the
16mod case. I think the airflow discussion comes into play then.

For a "full" MAX we are talking 6*12mod or 4*16mod - the 6*12mod will
produce more heat than 4*16mod anyway - and then add on the airflow
discussion....but of course that only gives you up to 64 modems available
per MAX versus 72 with the 12mod :)

Yes same architecture on all of the cards 8mod, 12mod *and* 16mod.
