By hitting the "find" button on our web pages, looking for "configurator"
I found the following information which should have enough hints to
answer your question:

How do I configure SAM to allow the Java Configurator through?

There are several ports that need to be opened to allow the Java
through the firewall. Here is the configuration for SAM: 

1.Click on 'SNMP'                                  ******** (SNMP)
2.Select 'Incoming' 
3.Select 'Enable' 
4.Under 'Local Servers' put the IP address of the Ascend devices 
5.Under 'Remote Clients' put the IP address of where the Java Configurator
will work from 

6.Click on 'Triv. File Xfer (TFTP)'                ******** (TFTP)
7.Select 'Incoming' 
8.Select 'Enable' 
9.Under 'Local Servers' put the IP address of the Ascend devices 
10.Under 'Remote Clients' put the IP address of where the Java Configurator
will work from 

11.Select 'Outgoing' 
12.Select 'Enable' 
13.Under 'Local Clients' put the IP address of the Ascend devices 
14.Under 'Remote Servers' put the IP address of where the Java Configurator
will work from 

15.Click on 'Custom IP Protocol' 
16.Select 'Incoming' 
17.Select 'Enable' 
18.Enter '9' in the box next to 'Port Number'        ******* (discard)
19.Click on the arrow to the right of 'Inactive' 
20.Select 'UDP Session'                              ******* (UDP)
21.Under 'Local Servers' put the IP address of the Ascend devices 
22.Under 'Remote Clients' put the IP address of where the Java Configurator
will work from 

Those steps will allow the Java configurator through the firewall.
