I'm using NT Workstation 4 with NetBEUI and WINS disabled. Each time a user logs in, the machine arps for each DNS server, and then sends an ICMP echo request. Of course, this brings up the line. No DNS lookups are done. First of all, any idea why this should be happening? Secondly, will filtering ICMP requests to the DNS servers harm other functionality? Third, does anyone have a filter (it does have to be generic, correct) to block these echo requests? Thanks, -Anand -- Anand R.
