Recently I have set up a profile on Radius that uses CLID
authentication. I set the CLID auth parameter on our MAX 4000 to CLID
Auth=prefer since it was only one profile that used CLID authentication.

Setting the CLID  parameter on the MAX to 'prefer' seems to affect
profiles on the MAX 4000.  If I was to dial into a profile on the MAX
then I would be connected but I wouldn't get a LAN Session up.  Does
anyone know why this happens ?

Dialling the other way to the pipeline works fine.

My setup is as follows:-

MAX 4000 with 4.6a software.
Radius version 1.16
I have tried a pipeline 25 and 50
