(ASCEND) Max200+ and 5.0A

We have been running a Max200+ with the 4.6C software since last
October. The major problem has been an inexplicable hang about
once a month (necessitating cycling the power, because there is
no reset switch). Connections (2xISDN with syncPPP) have worked fine.

A week ago, I upgraded to 5.0A and couldn't get a connection.
The log at the other - calling - end indicated that the 5.0A
software was not responding to IPCP requests in the way the older
version did.

OK, I downgraded to 4.6C, and everything works as before, that is,
working connections and the occasional hang.

Has anyone similar experiences with the 5.0A software? If it
cures the hanging, as the documentation states, then that would
be very nice. However, seeing the PPP software has changed, what
do I have to change and where in order to get connections working
again? How was PPP changed? Why was it changed?

Another question: can the 5.0A finally do callbacks without
(first) answering?
