(ASCEND) X2 USR modems and K56FLEXen...

Just finished a poll of X2 users (26) and while they are
understandably annoyed at not getting 56K, they are connecting
to our K56-enabled PoP at 28.8 - 31.2. Works fine.

Something new- several users have commented that FTP downloads
are much faster now; I've verified this. Back in the 4.6bi12 or
4.6C days, modem speed was a good indicator of how fast FTP 
would run: If your connect speed was 26.4, your ftp speed was
2.6 at best, on an already-compressed file. A GIF, say. Which
is all anyone downloads anyway except for Yet Another Microsoft
Patch.

Now, on a 26.4 connection, FTP rates are typically 3.1 to 3.4...
As I said, I've verified it. Must be the new modem code.
