Of course, Merit was based on Livingston too.  It just diverged earlier.

Saying one is Livingston based and one is Merit based doesn't really tell
someone what any differences are unless they are already very familiar with
the respective servers.  AND I don't believe Ascend's current commercial
product is identical to the current Merit product anyway.  Just as your
free product is not identical to Livingston 1.16
