(ASCEND) (Ascend) Stubborn P75 Wont dial TNT - Telco Issues???



We have a TNT with 1.3ap5. Our PRIs deliver analog and ISDN calls to the box.

The customer has a P75 on 5.1a. We as an ISP use this box as the POP.

We have no problem with users by modem, or with ISDN 64K users in all cases except one.


The Problem: 

Then I attempt to dial my TNT with data service set to 64K, It dosent place the call at all.

If I put the P75 into 56K data service it will place the call (confirmed on the TNT) but CRCs and never logs in.


Keep in mind other P50's P75s and Ramps are fine but all at 64K, not 56K


According to the telco they have confirmed that the customer has 64K per channel from the swich we will call "DI"(Desert Inn).

The TNT's PRIs are connected with 64 per channel to our switch we call "DM1" (Downtown Main 1) which we are around the corner from.

** note there is also a "DM2" (Main 2) which is in the same telco building.


We first used the telcos loop test number which dialed at 64K fine. Hmmm. Well it turns out that the loop # in in DM2.

After diging a little deeper we establish that well each of us have 64K to the switch, beetween DI and DM1 there is only 56K. (DI to DM2 has 64K)

Telco finds another loop # in my DM1 - Dosent dial in 64K - CRC's in 56K.

*note - an ascend tech was able to place (long dist) both 64K and 56K calls to the TNT but still CRC'd with both speeds to death - he also telnet'd in and checked the TNT config - a-OK

**Three weeks of my life lost to poor engineering - If only one of my PRI's went to the other switch.


All arrestors on both circuits are gas.


Does anyone have any suggestions?
