Yes, the upgrade was almost a nightmare. Several customers have
had trouble. At least 15% of my users. Be grateful that you started
with Ap27, it is by far the best. The older patches were worse for
this issue. The techs at Ascend originally wouldn't admit a problem,
but eventually they told me that some of their ISP customers were
having this issue. Here is one tip they gave me. I am still not
sure if it helped.

Also, having your customers with V.34 modems place about 4 commas
after the phone number will usually get them past that 56K burp tone
which seems to help in a lot of situations.
