RE: (ASCEND) Repost: Remote reboot of MAX via SNMP

You need a protocol analyzer. Cinco networks has one for NT/95.

No, I haven't done a trace - how can I do one?

The error that comes back is:

"Request rejected by node for variable sysReset.0"

As a matter of fact, I get the the same error for reads of
variables:

sysAbsoluteCurrentTime
sysReset
sysLoadName
sysAuthPreference

However, I can get variables ABOVE those like:

sysSecsSinceStartup
sysMibVersionNum
sysMibMinorRevNum
etc

I made sure I have my SNMP station's IP address listed as a
write manager to this node but it doesn't seem to make any
difference. I also turned 'security' off and it didn't make
a difference.

Do you think my SNMP program has mangled the MIB?

I'm running 5.0Ap23 right now - I was running 5.0Ap20 when
I first noticed the problem (I was upgrading the firmware that's
why I wanted to reset the unit)
