Re: (ASCEND) Ascend - Winners & Losers - Rant

I would have to agree, no one _should_ be angered by someone else acquiring
wealth, but a slight tingle of resentment arises as I think of how we have
been fighting to get our Ascend units to work properly for a long time now.
I, as well as the people in our company, used to be very loyal to the Ascend
name as their tech services were great, their units gave us little to no
trouble, and we always got an answer when we asked a question. (even if the
answer was, "We aren't sure, we will look it up and get back with you.").
These things seem more like fantasy nowadays.

I personally have seen that Ascend has begun to fail in its loyalty to me as
a paying customer (who could not really afford the first Ascend we purchased
so long ago, but did anyway - and who kept with the Ascend brand as our
company grew and was able to afford many more such units, not to mention the
collateral sales of ISDN routers to our customers, etc.) If the mutual
loyalty has faded, I'm gone; I think that we as paying customers should be
entitled to a little more than the "dog and pony show" which seems to be
going on. Ascend (or reps of), just be honest - if you are having problems
with the code, don't try to mask or deny it. Stop patronizing your
customers to death and work with us.

Speaking for myself, I would rather know that there is a problem with the
next version of code and that its release date will be pushed back for more
testing and in-depth debugging (i.e. fixing problems that have plagued the
code for several releases) instead of being handed a shiny new version of
code every month or so that has not been properly debugged and which ends up
costing my company money (then maybe I wouldn't have this little touch of
resentment towards the people at Ascend making large sums of money as we
fight to keep our/their equipment operational.)

Just my rant (after having some generic bug in Ascend code cripple some of
our dialups for a couple of hours today).

Cheers,
