(ASCEND) RE: Pipeline upgrade problem

Hi Scott,

THANK YOU very much for your help. The information you provided was very
helpful.
I shorted out jumper (P1) and was able to clear the flash with a command
"EF" like you mentioned but I'm unable to download the new code with a
command "DF" because I believe that the P75 code is the "fat" binary and it
must be loaded by using tload. I have been trying to contact Ascend tech
support but still unable to talk to a live person. Any help from you and
members from this mailing list is appreciated. THANKS.

Hi Peter,
Pasted below are two posts that should answer your question. You can
research
further if you want by searching at http://www.nexial.com/mailinglists/ and
search the Ascend List for relevant info. It seems the procedure described
below will work and the jumper would be P1 - you may want to check Pipeline
versions and be sure before trying. I've seen this explained several times
so
if it doesn't seem clear search the list and I'm sure you'll find other
examples. Hope this helps.

I botched the code upload of an older P75 (Serial number of 714xxxx). I
emailed support@ascend.com and received back from the list of instructions
on how to clear out the flash, and start over. However, the information
from Ascend is shall we say sketchy. Here is what they say:
---
P50 later models (6xxxxx 722xxxx) (P75's as well)

With all cables and power removed, open the case and orient the LEDs
toward you (the front). Locate the large 1.5" square Motorola chip in the
front right corner. At the top left corner of this chip there are 2 pairs
of jumpers. You will need to short JP9 or JP6, depending on the
silkscreening. Attach the power then the serial cable. Configure the
terminal software for 57600 N-8-1 no flow-control You should see a PIPE50>
prompt. Type EF then DF. If EF returns an error, dont worry. After typing
DF upload the correct version of the software. The software is about
450K.ont). When complete (2-4 minutes) remove the power cord then remove
the jumper. Replace the box lid and power up. Its now running in a factory
original configuration.depending Reconnect the serial cable using 9600
N-8-1 no flowcontrol and configure as desired.power then the serial cable.
---
I do see the P6 Jumper, however it is just 3 pins. I try jumping any two
of them, and don't have luck with it booting up. In fact, the lights on
the front go on, but the unit (via the serial port) is dead. I have put a
call in to the TAC, but they didn't get back to me yet. If anyone here
knows the magical secret it would be great and much appreciated.

Actually, P1 is off to the left of the LEDs but it did indeed do the
trick. Brian thanks you and I thank you.

Take care,
