(ASCEND) Disconnects on 4048s and 6.1.3

We finally decided to upgrade from 5.0Ap33 to the V.90 revs, and I'm
having nothing but problems.  Yesterday we went to 6.1.7 and all of the
dial-up users slowed to a crawl due to a HUGE number of dropped packets
at the MAXen.  Today, we switched to 6.1.3 and throughput is great, but
most dial-up users are getting disconnected on a regular basis.
Everything worked fairly well on 5.0Ap33.  

Is there a stable V.90 release for the 4048? We aren't doing anything
odd with these things.  Just inbound connections on dual DCS circuits
with RADIUS authentication.  Should I start looking at 7.0.0 or should I
start looking at PortMasters?
