What kind of headaches?  I've walked at least 6 or 8 clients through
rickety ole configPPP getups over the past six months.  Other than the
trouble I have remembering what the interface looks like, I don't notice
any problems.  They connect to one of our 4048's or our 4004 with ease.

I do know that in order to avoid script conflicts, I have them omit the
"l" and "p" in "login" and "password" in their settings.  

You also have to make sure that on the Max, the "Passwd" setting in
Ethernet>ModConfig>TservOptions is set to <null>; that is, NO PASSWORD.
If it's set, the authentication process hangs.

It's not a headache if you have those bases covered.  It *is* a headache,
however, to try and convince someone to get OT or FreePPP when they have a
working ConfigPPP.
