RE: (ASCEND) Handy Hints For Upgrading Maxen

Hi all,

We just upgraded one of our Max boxes from version 4.6A to 6.1.7 - without a
hitch except for a problem with SecureID (which was our fault anyway)....

The excellent engineers from BTN (London) were aware of the upgrade issues
and therefore did the upgrade in 4 stages. Doing this there was no config
loss and the boxes came up fine, with Radius ISDN users immediately
re-connecting...... This was the procedure they followed:

	Save Current Config 5 Mins
Upgrade to Version 5.0A	30 Mins
	Reboot MAX 5 Mins
Upgrade To Version 5.0Ap42	30 Mins
	Reboot MAX 5 Mins
Upgrade to Version 6.0.8	30 Mins
	Reboot MAX 5 Mins
Upgrade to Version 6.1.7(18)	30 Mins

Anyway I thought you all might appreciate this as a story of something that
worked *right* for a change.........
