The most likely thing that happened, assuming the software load was
successful is that the profiles were wiped out and the system returned
to the factory defaults.  Have they tried the default password ["Ascend"]?

Try going into the System>Security menu and check the "Full Access" and
"Default" profiles.  What do they report?

If the simple stuff doesn't work and the customer is willing to void the
warranty, and more importantly is competent with a screwdriver in hand,
you can direct them to follow the directions to NINDY the system.
