Since 6.1.7 is a supported release, I would strongly recommend you gather
the Fatal History information from your MAXes and send the information to
Ascend before you downgrade. Make sure you get a TR number from technical
support. That way you will know when you should try upgrading again.
If you are going to downgrade to 5.0Ap51, you will need to be careful to
follow the instructions in the 6.1.7 release notes. There is a special
note about "Changing to system software that does not support V.90" that
is prominently listed in the contents.
Changing to system software that does not support V.90
When you upgrade to a software version that supports Rockwell V.90 code,
the modem modulation default is set to V.90. If you then change to a version
that does not support V.90 code, you must open the Terminal-Server profile
and verify that the Modem-Mod parameter is set to K56 or V.34.
The rest should be fairly standard, but can also be found in the release
notes in the "Upgrading system software" section.
