The Null MP packets are used as a keep-alive. If the MAX stops receiving
the packets, it assumes the channel is dead and disconnects the channel.
So, the question becomes why did the P15 stop sending Null MP packets
(or why did the MAX stop receiving them)?
Since the P15 is probably attached to a Microsoft Windows system, you
might want to check for configuration items like "power save" modes or
flow control settings or other processes that are running on the system
or other things that would cause the link to stop.
You might want to check what the P15 thinks is happening. Does the P15
report any problems?
How long is every once in a while? Once an hour? a day? a week?
Does the Windows system ever get rebooted or does it display any application
"blue screens"?
Does the MAX see any packets coming from the P15? Does it see any errors
on the line from the P15? Are you having problems with any other ISDN
users?
