Re: (ASCEND) 56k Hayes Accura into Max 40xx ??

I have seen the exact same problem. Customer had a Supra 56K modem with the
V.90 code, on a Max 4048-6.1.3. I watched his connection and saw the same
problem.

The ping's were dropped for the amount of time that it would take a modem to
re-train and then they started again. I watched this cycle twice before the
connection was dropped.

I have to have V.90 code. I have customers telling me that others are
offering it and they are ready to switch. These folks have been through a
lot; v.34 to Flex and now V.90. We are not a large ISP and the loss of
customers to competition because they have the new stuff and we don't is
very distressing.

I've spoken with a field engineer who told me that amongst themselves, the
4K software has problems. I was told that the TNT code was more stable, but
from what I have seen here--DRAM card or not--I am not so sure.

What do I do? What to tell my customers, my sales department and my owners
who want V.90 ( to work ) ?

Just my two cents...
