Have you tried numbered serial (Cisco style) instead? Ascend have a FAQ at http://www.ascend.com/faqs/650/159.html on setting up the Pipeline. It uses IF Addr to give WAN interface a seperate IP number. I've used it for calling our ISP's Cisco, and it worked first time.
