Hmm (cough)....

X2 was a USR proprietary protocol, just as K56Flex was Lucent/Rockwell
proprietary. The implementation of V.90 is independent of each of them,
but the (RAS) server involved will *also support* the legacy version of the
pre-V.90 standard that they had implemented. 

Bottom line - USR will also support X2 on their V.90 enabled servers, 
Lucent/Ascend/Shiva will also support K56Flex on their V.90 enabled
servers.

Any X2 client that is upgraded to V.90 should be able to connect to *ANY*
of the servers that are V.90 enabled.
