Actually, we never experienced this kind of problem until we INSTALLED
6.1.24 on our network. Ever since the v.90 standard came out in the Ascend
revs, we've had nothing but trouble finding a stable code to offer to our
users. We were previously using 5.0Ap42, which was rock-solid for us, but
no v.90. We've tried 6.1.7 (memory problem with un-allocating assigned
IPs), 7.0 (a tragedy), 7.0.4 (constant reboots), and are now currently
running 6.1.24. This is when we've started seeing the problems described
above. 6.1.7 has been the most stable for us in the environment where all
users have dynamic IPs assigned to them, but the memory issues erupted in
the cases of static IP users.
What kind of connectivity are you providing for your user? Is it ISDN or
a modem? Does he have a static IP, or dynamically assigned out of an IP
pool? Are you using RADIUS, or connection profiles?
Regardless, Maverick's right. The only way to get rid of that entry is to
reboot the box. There are some instances where you can delete the IP
route, which I've found sometimes clears out the session so he can log in
again, but it isn't 100% effective. If v.90 isn't an issue, or if your
user is trying to connect via ISDN, I recommend going to an earlier code rev.
