(ASCEND) Modem failure problems
Hey Everyone,
I've recently, less then two months, purchased a max6000 and installed 96
modems on it. It was working fine for 14 days with all modems and since 3
days ago, I've been getting modem errors. The symptoms are that when you
dial the phone number, you get a slow busy. The max reports "Far End hung
Up" and from reading the list I was able to do the avm diag command and
found that all my modems were either busy (less than half) or in the suspect
list and not being used. The only solution is by-pass the unit until the
modems are available again, which they do become several hours later.
In my syslogs I get a lot of :
Feb 8 00:32:40 max-mtl01 ASCEND: modem 7:7 bad last 8 calls
Feb 8 00:35:51 max-mtl01 ASCEND: modem 7:12 bad last 8 calls
Feb 8 01:00:05 max-mtl01 ASCEND: modem 8:13 bad last 8 calls
Feb 8 01:58:07 max-mtl01 ASCEND: modem 8:2 bad last 8 calls
....
And I even got:
Feb 8 08:01:53 max-mtl01 ASCEND: LPMOD: Slot 4 All Modems Down
Feb 8 08:08:38 max-mtl01 ASCEND: LPMOD: Slot 7 All Modems Down
for all my modem slots.
I thought this was just my max6000 but his morning, always the bloody
morning, I got the same problem on the next max in my pool.
This max is a max4048 with 48 modem cards and two PRIs.
My question is do I have a telco or hardware issue? I find it hard to
believe my maxes are starting to die on me all in a row.
I've opened up a ticket with Lucent yesterday and still no call back! I am
currently on my 10th "Please press 2 to stay on line" call right as I type
this. Any suggestions as to what to try would be greatly aprreciated.
The maxes are as follows:
Max6000: tbaxkh.m60 v.7.2.3
Max4000: ftik.m40 v.7.0.22
PS. FYI I tried the "Please press 1 to leave a message" and got "Sorry but
the mailbox your are trying to reach is full"...hmmm
