Sounds like a bad modem card. You can verify this by swapping out the modem
in slot 3 with a modem in your other Max. If the behavior persists, get on
the phone ASAP, as Lucent takes a while to deal with problems.
If it is indeed a bad modem card, you'll need to pull it out of service, and
take down a PRI (or have the telco busy out 12 B channels) until you're
resolved. Else you risk the wrath of your customers.

One is newer than the other. We had to RMA a box for an unrelated reason,
and got a newer chassis back. We still have 2 of the older models, and
they're working fine.

The 4000 would be lucky to handle 72 56k modems. The 6000 is what Ascend
gave us to deliver their 96 port solution (was supposed to be the 4004,
which fell on it's face).

Make sure your users have the latest and greatest firmware. It doesn't do
any good if you get too far ahead of them in this regard. I'm still at
7.0.22, and we experience very little compatiblity problems.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who dispises lucent's website. They
truely suck for being a usefull source of information. Everything there is
way to cluttered up with marketing fluff.
I guess you're stuck with us for support :)
