I/O Software Engineers
Two I/O Software Engineering positions are available at SGI in Eagan.
Title: SW Engr - I/O

Location: Eagan, MN
Responsibilities:
Candidate will work with a team responsible
for the IRIX and Linux I/O infrastructure and
platform I/O implementations. Initial
responsibilities will focus on IRIX PROM
device drivers and bringup effort associated
with Speedo2 project. Long term assignments
will include PCI, PCI-X and Infiniband
infrastructure, new system bringup and I/O
feature introduction (PCI Hot Plug for example).
Education/Experience:
BSCS, BSEE or equivalent. IRIX kernel
experience, UNIX device driver background,
I/O standards experience, platform bringup
background and comfort level working at the
hardware level are all a plus. Proven problem
solving and communication skills a must.
Title: Programmer-I/O Infrastructure

Location: Eagan, MN
Responsibilities:
Provide support for the I/O infrastructure (PCI,
VME, USB) on SGI server platforms (O200,
sgi2000 series, and sgi4000 series). Also
provide assistance in the bring-up of I/O
features on future server-class systems. Initial
responsibility would be support of the Origin
servers (sgi2100, sgi2200, sgi2400, sgi2800).
Current platforms are MIPS-processor based,
running the IRIX operating system. Future
platforms will be Intel-based, running the
Linux operating system.
Education/Experience:
Unix-based operating system and industry
standard I/O (PCI, VME, PCI-X, Infiniband)
experience desired. IRIX experience and
familiarity with the MIPS-based system
architecture is a plus. Should be comfortable
with hardware concepts and tackling problems
in both Unix kernel and realtime embedded
environments.
