There is nothing special to do.  If you use a SB1000, then you need to
compile and load the module for that device - then it should work as any
other ethernet device.

My configuration uses two NE2000 Linksys cards (ISA) on an old Pentium box.
One card is set up for 192.168.100.2 (the address the modem is configured to
use via its web interface - the SB1200) and the other card is 192.168.0.3
where my internal Lan is 192.168.0.x.

I then simply use the forwarding and firewall features of Linux to protect
and serve my network.  Everybody in the network can see 192.168.100.1 (the
Surfboard modem web interface) with any browser to connect or disconnect the
modem from MediaOne at any time.
