It's not big advice or necessarily good advice, but I found that you might
want to really make sure that the hardware on your sound card agrees with
what the system says it finds.  Sometimes "close enough" works, but there
are other times where two sister chips in a manufacturer's line do *not*
talk to the drivers the same way.

For free, you can try the OSS drivers.  If they do the trick, they want
$20 to use them forever, but I thought it was worth it.  I'd think the SB
card would be supported, but I guess you never know.
