Re: [TCLUG:15483] One more thing on Faeriedist...
Hey all --
First, a question about this distro: What/who's it for? Gurus who want
something to play around with? End users who don't want to deal with
system internals? Somewhere in between? I get the sense (from the
ports-like package system, etc.) that this might be more toward the
hacker-friendly end. If I'm wrong, I'd suggest doing something like Be or
MacOS X (except better) where you don't have to touch a cmdline unless you
know what it is and want to. I had the thought to do this a while ago, but
decided I didn't have the knowledge at the time. The more I think about
it, the more I want to base it on Debian. :)

A caveat here: Some services are required for (at least what I
consider) normal operation (e.g. identd for using IRC). Actually, identd
is the only one I can think of offhand, and IRC may not be "normal
operation" -- maybe you want to set it up so that any IRC package's
install would enable identd.
Other than that, it sounds like a cool project. Put it on an FTP somewhere
so we can tinker with it. :)
And good name too!
