This sounds like a good plan to me, especially if it's done well. Maybe
you'll end up coming up with some new tools or improvements to tools for
converting all kinds of documentation to HTML :)

I like SysV inits :) Of course, that doesn't mean I couldn't get used to
BSD inits and like them just as well. ;p

If you can do a good job of this while avoiding the... umm... "quirks" of
linuxconf, I think more than a few people would be eternally grateful.

Any major issues that would prevent you from using (something close
to) FHS? That's the way Debian does it and it works beautifully (except
for the current dichotomy between /usr/doc and /usr/share/doc, which
should be resolved by the time potato is stable).
